Hillary Challenges Obama’s Courage, Character
Fox News
by Aaron Bruns
Senator Clinton turned up the heat on Barack Obama on Sunday, saying the race comes down to “courage and convictions” — and blasting Obama’s positions on health care and his Political Action Committee as lacking both.Hillary came out firing on the health care before she took even a single question at a media availability in Cedar Rapids, accusing Obama of changing his tune on whether his plan covers all Americans depending on the audience. “Yesterday, in the space of a few hours, it went from universal when I wasn’t there, to comprehensive when we were on the same [stage],” she said — a reference to Saturday’s Black/Brown Presidential Forum in Iowa, where Obama seemed to be at great pains not to call his plan “universal.”

Obama Pulls Ahead for Democrats in Iowa Poll
National Frontrunner Hillary Clinton Slips to Second PlaceTHOMAS BEAUMONT
The Des Moines Register
Barack Obama has pulled ahead in the race for Iowa's Democratic presidential caucuses, while the party's national frontrunner Hillary Clinton has slipped to second in the leadoff nominating state, according to The Des Moines Register's new Iowa Poll.Despite the movement, the race for 2008's opening nominating contest remains very competitive about a month before the Jan. 3 caucuses, just over half of likely caucusgoers who favor a candidate saying they could change their minds.
Obama, an Illinois senator, leads for the first time in the Register's poll as the choice of 28 percent of likely caucusgoers, up from 22 percent in October. Clinton, a New York senator, was the preferred candidate of 25 percent, down from 29 percent in the previous poll.

Will Hillary Doom the Democrats?
CBS-The New Republic: Many Fear That A Clinton Nomination Will Hurt Democratic Chances In '08
Thomas F. Schaller.
Even with Barack Obama looking more and more competitive in the fast-approaching Iowa caucuses, Hillary Clinton remains the prohibitive favorite to win the 2008 Democratic nomination. But that hasn't quieted the grumbling - hell, downright speechifying - from some Democrats that if she were to become the nominee, Clinton would drag down Democratic chances in congressional and local elections in ways that neither of her main opponents (Obama and Senator John Edwards) ever could. "If Hillary comes to the state of Missouri, we can write it off," warned Missouri House Minority Whip Connie Johnson, an Edwards supporter, last October. "I'm not sure it would be fatal in Indiana, but she would be a drag," Democratic state Rep. Dave Crooks of nearby Indiana told the AP in August.

Clinton Bashes Obama on Health Care
BY GLENN THRUSH.glenn.thrush@newsday.com
TYSONS CORNER, Va. - Hillary Clinton's top advisers say she'll consider garnishing the wages of people who fail to enroll in her mandatory health insurance plan - on a day when the campaign launched a blistering attack on Barack Obama's health care proposal.
Clinton, using her signature issue as a cudgel against a revitalized opponent, demanded that Obama take down a TV ad that has been airing in New Hampshire for several weeks. The ad claims that Obama's plan provides coverage for all Americans. At last month's debate in Las Vegas, Clinton charged that the Illinois senator's reform proposal - which doesn't include the mandate favored by Clinton and many experts - would leave out as many as 15 million Americans.
